All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well. Julian of Norwich, Christian mystic and theologian, 1395
For many years I taught high school English in an alternative school. It was a very fulfilling job and one that gave me great satisfaction. I have always known that I wanted to be in a profession that helped people and I certainly was challenged being a teacher. During the course of a school year, I experienced an extremely unfortunate experience while having a hernia repair. Several key sensory nerves were entrapped by stitches which resulted in permanent damage to my abdomen and upper leg. Numerous surgeries were performed to try to help with the excruciating nerve pain, but very little helped. That is until I discovered CranioSacral therapy (CST) as a patient. With weekly sessions, I began to get my mind back (after being on high dose narcotics) and my pain lessened. Never in my imagination did I think that I could be where I am today physically. CST genuinely changed my life. And so I'm now on a new path of healing as a minister and wellness provider who yearns to help others the way I was helped.
As a chaplain and pastoral counselor, I have helped others with health and other issues. It wasn't until I experienced an ankle problem which required I use a walker that I was fortunate to discover the healing benefits of CranioSacral Therapy. Because I know it works, I want to make a difference in others' lives. Oftentimes we don't take the time for ourselves. It's hard to imagine that such a gentle touch can be so life changing.
